Meet your English-speaking driver in the hotel lobby at 9:30 a.m. for a day of exploration of the scenic Brunello wine region. The Brunello di Montalcino was awarded the first Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG) designation and today is one of Italy’s best-known and valued wines. Start at the biodynamic boutique winery Podere Le Ripi, known for its young innovative winemaker, for a private visit of the vines and cantina with the resident expert. Enjoy a tasting of five wines accompanied by a farm-to-table lunch of Tuscan specialties featuring a pasta dish, cheeses and coldcuts produced by local organic farms and daily features from the onsite vegetable garden. Afterwards proceed to the medieval town of Montalcino for a stroll, and optional tasting at the well-stocked enoteca (to be paid onsite). Your last stop will be at a final Brunello winery for a comparison tasting of an additional three vintages to round out your exploration of the famous wines of Brunello.
